Vehicle Inspection Forms

A Vehicle Inspection Form allows you to ensure that all the components for a complex type of job (e.g. 60-point Inspection) are carried out and any associated comments recorded.

Once completed your Inspection Form will also allow you to provide your customer with professional documentation that shows them that all work has been carried out.
Additionally, you will be able to clearly identify any further works that need to be done on the vehicle through notes that appear of the Repair Order as well as through photos that you have taken and added to the Inspections forms.

You can access existing Vehicle Inspection Forms on a Repair Order through the Inspections button in the top toolbar.



This will open a list of the Inspections that you have created in COSTAR. Simply select the appropriate form and click on Assign to attach it to the Repair Order.



Note: You can create and maintain your own Vehicle Inspection Forms through Settings, Order Entry Options, Vehicle Inspections in COSTAR.

 You can click on View (see above) to see the contents of the Inspection Form.

 


 

Clicking on the section title (e.g. Miscellaneous as below) will open the checklist for the selected section and will allow you to mark each item as OK, Suggested or Required.

 


Any items that are marked as Suggested or Required will also be added as Inspection Memo lines on the Repair Order. This will provide you with an opportunity to discuss these items with your customer and proceed with additional work as approved.


 The completed inspection form can also be printed off for the customer to provide complete and professional documentation. It will be kept electronically as an attachment to the Repair Order.



Note: In addition to this standard functionality COSTAR Mobile includes the ability to use inspection forms on a mobile device(s) such as a phone or tablet.

This allows your team to mark off the items as they go, take photos to illustrate issues and attach these to the Inspection Form (from where they can be forwarded to your customer) without the need for duplication of writing and transferring to COSTAR later.
