Purpose
Product Type is a classification of Inventory that controls General Ledger assignments, product discounting, Inventory searches, and reporting selections. It is mandatory for each Inventory Item entered into the System, via Item Maintenance, to be assigned to a Product type.
Kits are "add-on items" that will be placed automatically on an Order Entry Document every time an Inventory item, belonging to an associated product type, is placed on an Order Entry Document. Multiple kits are allowed.
Kits may include Inventory, Labour, Special Items, Kits and Service Reminders
Adding a Kit to a Product Type
In COSTAR;
- Select Inventory
- Select Product Type Maintenance
- Select the appropriate Product Type
- Select Kits
- Use the drop down list to select an existing Item, Service, Special Item, Kits or Service Reminder or
- Create a New Kit and then add that to the Product Type.
In the example below, a Kit Called “Passenger Tyre Memo” with just a Memo line has been created and then added to the Product Type Kits that already existed.
When you sell an item of that Product Type the assigned Kits will be added below the Item.
